Question:
What is Temporary Total Disability?Answer:
Many times when we’re consulting with a new client about their workers’ compensation claim, our conversation turns to the disability pay that they receive while they’re unable to work. We call that under the statute temporary total disability, in the vernacular, TTD. TTD is determined by going backward to the year prior to your accident and determining what your average weekly wage rate is. From your average weekly wage rate, two-thirds of that will constitute your tax-free TTD rate. You’re entitled to receive that for as long as you are unable to return to full duty to do your job. Determining how someone’s average weekly wage rate is computed, it can be difficult. If you’re having questions about how your employer is computing your average weekly wage and TTD rates, please give us a call. Let us look at that and let us help you.Do you or a loved one have questions about temporary total disability in a workers’ compensation claim in Illinois?
